2008 Holiday Tree Festival - 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Nov. 22, Nov. 24-26 and Nov. 28; 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Nov. 23 and 30; 2-6 p.m. Thanksgiving Day at the John S. Knight Center, 77 E. Mill St., Akron. Presented by The Volunteers of Akron Children's Hospital. An Evening of Enchantment, Nov. 21; the evening will give guests a first look at the array of holiday trees, decorations and items crafted for the festival. $125 per person. Breakfast With Santa at 8:30-10 a.m. Nov. 22 and 29. $12; $8 for ages 4-12. Ribbon Cutting & Kids' Day, Nov. 22. Call 330-543-8424 for tickets for An Evening of Enchantment and Breakfast With Santa. Free admission to the festival.


Deck the Hall - Nov. 8-Dec. 28, Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens, 714 N. Portage Path, Akron. Traditional Christmas decorations fill the Manor House, along with a historical exhibit of the Seiberling family at Christmas in the Great Hall. Outside, the gardens and grounds and the Corbin Conservatory will be decorated in a winter wonderland of lights and in the courtyard, children may pet sheep and goats at Happy Trails Cuddle Barn. In the conservatory is a life-sized nativity by guest artist Sonja Richardson. In addition, choirs and musical ensembles from Akron and Cleveland perform on Tuesdays and Sundays. 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays-Sundays. Closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. $14, $8 for grounds-only tours. Youth ages 6-17 are $2. 330-315-3287

We need your help to keep this great organization and these great events from vanishing. A lack of interest in the FPCC and a general scarcity of volunteers is seriously threatening this wonderful organization. We are currently looking for members and volunteers who will donate just a few hours of their time. So what can you do to help? We welcome everyone from one to one hundred to join our organization , Not only will you be able to help shape future events , you will also gain the personal satisfaction of  enriching our community.
